Weddings are a time when people want to look and feel their best.
It is not always the bride. I see bridesmaids, mums, sisters, aunties, close friends and wedding guests who want to feel a little more confident before a big day.
Some people are preparing for their own wedding. Others are part of the wedding party. Some are simply attending as a guest and know there will be lots of photographs.
Most people do not want a big change. They just want to feel fresher, more confident and more comfortable in their skin.
If you are thinking about skin treatments before wedding celebrations, my main advice is simple: please do not leave it too late.
Some treatments need several months of planning. Others need time to settle. If you have never had a treatment before, timing matters even more.
Why Timing Matters Before a Wedding
Aesthetic treatments work best when there is time to plan them properly.
If you book too close to the wedding, there may not be enough time for the treatment to take effect. There may also be less time for swelling, bruising or review appointments.
I would always rather see someone too early than too late.
A consultation gives me time to look at your skin, your facial movement and your concerns. It also gives me a chance to check the date of the wedding and advise on what is realistic.
Your plan may include anti-wrinkle treatments, Profhilo, dermal fillers such as lip filler, skin boosters or skincare.
Not everyone needs the same thing. The best plan depends on your skin, what you would like to improve and how much time we have before the wedding.
Four Months Before: Plan Anti-Wrinkle Treatment
If you are thinking about anti-wrinkle treatment before a wedding, it is best to plan ahead so you can get the most from your treatment.
Around four months before the wedding is a good time to have an initial pre-wedding treatment. This gives me chance to see how your facial muscles respond and how the treatment works for you.
Everyone’s facial movement and muscle strength is different. Some people respond exactly as expected. Others may need a small adjustment to get the result right for them.
Starting earlier simply gives us more time to understand what works best for you.
The main treatment for the wedding is then usually planned around one month before the day. By this point, I have a better understanding of how you respond, which helps me tailor the treatment more closely to you as an individual.
This also leaves time for a two-week review if needed, so the result has time to settle before the wedding.
Anti-Wrinkle Wedding Timeline
- Initial pre-wedding treatment around four months before the wedding
- Review two weeks after pre-wedding treatment
- Main wedding treatment one month before the wedding
- Review two weeks after the main treatment
- Time for the result to settle before the wedding day
Profhilo for Wedding Skin Glow
Profhilo can be a lovely option if you want an overall skin boost before a wedding.
It does not add volume like filler. It does not change the shape of your face. It works more on skin quality, hydration and glow.
I often discuss Profhilo with people who feel their skin looks tired, dry or dull.
It may be suitable if your skin feels:
- Dry
- Dull
- Tired
- Dehydrated
- Crepey
- Less firm than it used to be
Profhilo is not a last-minute treatment. It needs proper timing if you want it to fit around a wedding.
Profhilo Wedding Timeline
For Profhilo, I usually recommend two treatments carried out four weeks apart.
After that, you still need time for the skin improvement to develop. I would allow up to eight weeks after the treatment course for the result to show properly.
A good timeline would be:
- First Profhilo treatment 12 to 16 weeks before the wedding
- Second Profhilo treatment four weeks later
- Allow up to eight weeks for the skin improvement to develop
- Skin has time to look fresher and more hydrated before the day
This means three to four months before the wedding is a good time to start.
Profhilo is often chosen by people who want better skin quality without adding volume or changing their facial shape.
Three to Six Months Before: Think About Filler
If you are thinking about dermal fillers before a wedding, I would always recommend planning this in good time.
Filler can be lovely for adding soft shape, support or balance; it should never feel rushed. For weddings, my approach is always subtle. The aim is for you to still look like you, just feeling a little more refreshed.
You may be considering:
- Lip filler for shape, hydration or definition
- Cheek filler for soft support
- Chin filler for balance
- Lower-face support
- Treatment for marionette lines
- Facial balancing
It is best to plan filler in good time before a wedding.
This gives the treatment time to settle and allows any swelling or bruising to calm down, especially with lips. Other areas can also look better once they have had a little time to soften and settle naturally.
I would usually suggest having filler at least eight to twelve weeks before the wedding. If you are new to filler, it is even better to come in a little earlier.
This gives us time to plan carefully, keep the result natural and make sure you feel refreshed before the day.
Four Weeks Before: Final Treatment Window
Around four weeks before the wedding, I would usually avoid any big changes.
If you have already started your anti-wrinkle treatment plan, this can be a good time for your second treatment. It gives the treatment time to work and still allows time for a two-week review if needed.
This is why I always recommend planning anti-wrinkle treatment early where possible. The first treatment helps me see how your muscles respond. It also helps me understand whether the dose needs any adjustment for you as an individual.
If you have left it until around four weeks before the wedding, it may still be possible to have anti-wrinkle treatment, depending on your consultation and suitability.
It is just not the ideal timeline if you are new to treatment, because there is less time to review and adjust if needed.
At this stage, I would be more cautious with anything new. Some treatments may still be suitable. Others may be better left until after the wedding.
A consultation helps me look at your timescale and advise honestly on what is safe, realistic and likely to settle in time.
Two Weeks Before: Focus on Simple Skincare
Two weeks before the wedding, it’s best to keep things simple and focus on looking after your skin.
This is a good time to stay consistent with skincare you already know suits you. Keep your skin well hydrated, use SPF and avoid changing too much at once.
I would not usually recommend starting strong new products or booking harsher treatments at this stage. Your skin will usually thank you more for a steady routine than a last-minute change.
If you already have a treatment plan in place, I can advise what is suitable. But at this point, the focus is usually on keeping your skin settled, hydrated and comfortable.
The Week Before: Keep It Gentle
In the final week before the wedding, gentle is best.
Use the products your skin already knows. Drink plenty of water, keep using SPF and avoid trying anything new just because the wedding is close.
If you are having professional makeup, well-hydrated skin can help it sit more smoothly. Even small things, like keeping your skincare routine steady, can make a difference.
By this stage, the aim is not to make big changes. It is to keep your skin feeling calm and ready for the day.
Wedding Skin Prep Is Not Just for Brides
Wedding skin prep is definitely not just for brides. It is very normal to want to feel your best for a special day.
You might want your skin to look a little fresher. You might want to soften lines, improve hydration or feel less tired. You might just want a small treatment that still looks natural.
Whatever the reason, the plan should feel right for you. It should suit your face, your skin and the time you have before the wedding.
